Research – MyScience
Research

The evidence speaks clearly.

MyScience is built on a foundation of educational research into inquiry learning, scientific communities of practice, and teacher professional development. Outcomes are measured, tracked, and published.

Five things we know from the research:

  • 1.

Primary teachers grew in confidence and changed how they taught science — creating classrooms where students could think, question, and investigate like real scientists.

  • 2.

Primary students developed a stronger sense of themselves as science learners and a genuine enjoyment of doing real science.

  • 3.

Scientist mentors reported that involvement in MyScience deepened their appreciation for how science is learned and taught — and strengthened their commitment to making science accessible to young people.

  • 4.

Secondary teacher mentors moved toward more student-centred practice in their own classrooms — and some influenced non-MyScience colleagues to do the same.

  • 5.

Year 9/10/11 MySTics reported significant gains in confidence, enjoyment, and independence in their own secondary science — a transformation they attributed to their mentoring role.
